Wes Anderson’s meticulous mise-en-scène is always impressive, and Fantastic Mr. Fox is no exception to that rule. When you watch the film, it’s clear that Anderson has painstakingly pondered every camera movement, color palette, and set piece to craft an immersive world that is as beautiful as it is fully conceived. But like most Anderson’s movies, style trumps substance when it comes to the characters and the story in Fantastic Mr. Fox.

It’s true style trumps substance in his films, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing when crafting a work of art. This actually one of my favorite Anderson films.
