Spoilerpiece Theatre Episode 1: The Purge: Anarchy

I wish that Clint Eastwood made smarter choices about what to keep when adapting the musical JERSEY BOYS for the big screen.

I wasn’t expecting to get emotionally wrapped up in a movie about computer-generated apes, but DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES sucked me in.

I think ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER would be a much better film if it didn’t take its premise so seriously.

I was touched by Tim O’Donnell’s excellent documentary for the love of dogs.

I loved Lord and Miller’s subversive sequel 22 JUMP STREET because it uses itself as an example of why you shouldn’t do the same thing twice.

Despite some emotionally manipulative moments in THE FAULT IN OUR STARS, I still found the film touching and funny.

EDGE OF TOMORROW is my favorite blockbuster of the summer so far because it has great characters, looks good, and moves fast.

I really dug Jim Mickle’s pulpy crime thriller COLD IN JULY for its gritty atmosphere and uncomfortable suspense.

I couldn’t make it to IFFBoston 2014, but I recently watched a few screener links for shorts that played there.
